Flavia Lovatelli
Other
Flavia, a native of Italy, has carved a niche for herself as a self-taught sustainable artist based in Columbia, SC. Her artistic expression is driven by salvaged and recycled materials, and her art serves as a personal record, a visual diary of the materials that catch her attention. Through her creations, she aims to document the beauty of fond objects, which she injects into her work. Flavia's work is an amalgamation of organic modernism, fiber and trash art, resulting in both two and three-dimensional works of art that are meant to delight and inspire others.
Flavia's art has been featured in national publications and numerous magazines, and she has participated in multiple juried exhibitions, including fine craft shows such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where she won the Excellence in Fiber Arts award in 2020. She has also been a part of the Smithsonian Craft Show and other regional art competitions, where she has received several accolades for her exceptional work.

My name is Angie McConnell. I am a native Colatown resident in the downtown area. I love the art scene here and love to create in lots of mediums. I have done photography and received a ribbon in the state fair. I have done cookie and cake decorating. I was the Artist-in-Residence at Logan Elementary for a couple of years. Currently, I am a seamstress part-time at Soda City Sewing and make glass mosaics part-time. I love to use old window as the base for a piece, most of which came from houses in the downtown area.

I’m RETIRED (Wahooo!) after being a grant administrator for over 25 years in both the private sector and at the University of South Carolina. Now I can spend as much time as I like pursuing my passion for art.
I have always had a creative streak, starting as a child sketching characters from the Sunday comics, and enjoying cross-stitch needlework and paper crafts as an adult. My recent interest in acrylic painting began by attending “paint parties” with friends. With no formal art education but wanting to learn more, I used online tutorials to teach myself dot art, palette knife work, fluid acrylics, one-stroke, and other acrylic techniques. I am most passionate about abstract designs, but also enjoy painting landscapes, scenes of nature, flora and fauna.
In 2006, I lost my only child, Lyssa, to cancer. Lyssa was 20 years old and a sophomore at Winthrop University in Rock Hill SC, studying technical theater when she passed away. The Lyssa Rauch Memorial Scholarship was established in Winthrop’s Department of Theater and Dance, funded entirely by private donations. But when the scholarship experienced financial difficulties, I decided to start selling my art and use my hobby to benefit a worthy cause. Now the proceeds from the sale of my art directly funds this scholarship. A $1,000 award is presented each spring to a rising 4th or 5th year student, keeping Lyssa’s memory alive, and helping future artists follow their own passions in the arts.
I am a member and former President of the Cayce Arts Guild and a member of the Jasper Guild. I live in Lexington SC with my husband Todd Leger, and three crazy cats: Jaime, Tyrion, and Cercei.

Found & Altered

When I take a walk and find something laying on the ground, I can tell the thing has been discarded and is no longer wanted. That is the lowest point in this thing's existence. So the challenge begins; can I take this unwanted thing, alter it, and make it once again desirable?

I believe art in your home should spark a feeling that makes you smile as you walk by. Maybe it reminds you of a moment in time or maybe you just plain love looking at it! I am drawn to vibrant colors for paintings reflecting nature with a fun twist. I've started a journey into pottery and enjoy getting my hands muddy and seeing where the creative process of each piece takes me. Joy for me is found in the small imperfections of a piece that show it is made with someone's hands. I love making functional pieces pretty in small batches.

My name is Rhonda Zimmerman. I am a former zookeeper whose art is based on my love for animals. I would describe myself as a self-taught artist. My art, especially my paintings, flow more from the heart than any formal discipline.
In addition to my paintings I also enjoy creating necklaces and small animal miniatures.
My hope is that people can find both beauty and escape from my pieces, and possibly a deeper appreciation for all living creatures.

Jewelry
I've always enjoyed the process of creating—whether it's music, theatre, jewelry, or something else. Creativity begets creativity, and the notion that I have an opportunity to make things that others want to wear or own is appealing.
The Inspired Chaos brand was created in 2012 when my brick and mortar store, Artizan, was in operation. The store closed in 2016, but I enjoyed creating, so I decided to continue it online with Inspired Chaos Studio. Today, the Studio offers bespoke earrings featuring semiprecious stones, crystal, glass and more. The line of sun catchers features Czech and K9 crystal, as do the bespoke artisan fan pulls.
