Angie Bryant Art
Painting
I’m Angie Bryant, an alcohol ink artist and surface pattern designer based in Upstate South Carolina. After years as an elementary art teacher, I returned to my own creative practice in 2018 and now focus on bold, expressive florals. I paint with alcohol inks and air tools—each bloom shaped by movement, instinct, and color. The results are layered, luminous, and one of a kind. Many of my designs also appear on functional items like coasters, trivets, and mugs. I print all of my products in-house, and recently received a project grant from the Metropolitan Arts Council to expand my home décor line. Whether I’m in the studio or teaching a workshop, my goal is simple: to make art that brings beauty to everyday life and reminds others it’s never too late to bloom.

Unique 1
Mixed Media
Growing up in the metropolitan area of Jersey, having the museums and galleries of New York to expand my artistic education, I realized I do not have any great social revelational statements to make. After receiving an MFA in sculpture/ceramics, the concerns that I have focused on and deal with and are associated with existing this day and age. They are about living the middle-class life, with its daily struggles, indirectly; my artwork is a statement of our times.
My artwork is stimulated by objects, images, and/or materials, which are part of my surrounding environment. The materials I choose are materials acquired by visually scanning my environment. Most of these objects, images and materials are so loaded with information and associations about our daily existence, that they practically speak for themselves.
Clay allows me to express how our lives are loaded with textures and colors. It is what visually gives our lives personality and character. I use materials and objects from my environment to impress their unique qualities into the clay and then bring them to life with the choice of glaze color. The more you engage the more special they become.
The dolls I design and create originate with the same creative process. They are created with recycled/repurposed local materials. Each carry and exhibit a tremendous personality/character. The materials used scream with this personality. Each special and unique personality grabs attention since they are so vibrant and unique. The effervescent presence of my dolls is complemented by my colorfully organic ceramic vessels. Each is uniquely handmade and one of a kind. Once the character is sold, they cannot be duplicated. One and done as they say.

Photography
I am an artist, author and activist who uses digital photography and unconventional photoplasty to create unique art, a style I call “Kaiju Punk.”
For over two decades I have created museum quality work while championing social justice, challenging the perceived standards of art, and producing a legacy webcomic. My philosophy is that while a good foundation in art education is important, a lack of it should not be a barrier into entering into the arts. I teach up and coming artists how to market themselves and how to create a following for their craft. Most importantly, I stress that enthusiasm, honesty and a good relationship with their community will carry someone far, and that the most important acceptance comes from one’s self.

I discovered my passion for clay in 2011 when I happened upon a pottery studio at the local rec center four miles from our new home in Chapin, SC. Since then I have buried myself in the chemistry of glazing, immersed myself in the artistic side of creating, delved into the practicality of kiln building, and even explored the mystical side of pit firing. I love the endless possibilities of technical challenges and artistic opportunities allowing me to create both decorative pieces and practical pots for everyday use.
My eclectic hobbies, including orchid growing, beekeeping, soap making, gardening, quilting, cooking, fishing, glass fusing, antiquing, (just to name a few) are a constant source of fresh ideas and inspiration. I grew up in Saudi Arabia, Bonaire, and Panama. As an adult I have moved frequently within the USA. I started out with a career in health care as a Child Life Specialist then became a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. For years I was fortunate to focus on being a mother to two wonderful boys. We moved back to SC in 2020 and built a studio at our home. I am now a full time potter/ceramicist.
Bits and pieces of my life are in every piece I create. My hope is that every piece finds a new home and builds its own story as it shares the life of those who use it.

I have been making stained glass for about five years, if accepted this would be my third Cottontown Art Crawl. I love stained glass for its ability to transform an ordinary or mundane space into something spectacular, as well as the way light itself can be turned into a component of the art. Much of my interest is in taking a medium that is historically associated with rigid tradition (i.e. church windows) and using it in a non-traditional way (such as mirrors or 3D works). While I have received no awards or recognition, I have had huge success at the past two Cottontown Art Crawls and would love to be able to participate again next year.

Wendys Trendies Glass and Pottery Studio
Mixed Media
Wendy Beaman is a self-taught ceramic and glass artist based in Florence, South Carolina, and the owner of her studio, Wendy’s Trendies. Working primarily with ground glass, sheet glass, and various clays, her practice focuses on creating vibrant, expressive functional and decorative items, including kiln-fired glass bowls and flowers, playful suncatchers, and slumped bottle charcuterie trays.
Wendy's signature technique involves the captivating process of melting glass in her kilns, which she uses to transform materials into unique vessels, hearts, and other creative masterpieces. While the kilns fire, she shifts her attention to sculpting with clay or assembling intricate glass suncatchers. Since dedicating herself to her art full-time in 2020, her core inspiration has been a simple yet powerful mission: to enrich the world by adding something beautiful and handmade to everyday life.
Equally central to Wendy's work is her role as an educator. Recognizing that the arts of stained and fused glass are "dying arts," she is passionate about passing on her knowledge. She teaches private classes at her studio, striving to keep the barrier to entry low by only charging for supplies and overhead. Wendy hopes to one day find and mentor an apprentice who can carry the torch for this beautiful craft.

After relocating to the southeastern United States in 2000, Diane began to work with clay. She fell in love with the feel and potential of the medium. She believes that clay is powerful and feels grounded with her hands in clay. The medium is well suited for expressing her love for natures large and small creatures.
When it comes to the technical character of Diane’s work, almost anything is fair game. She uses several types of clay, from earthenware to porcelain. For finishes, she uses a full range of elements: glazes, underglazes, stains, oxides, lusters, and paint. On average she fires her pieces three times to get the effects desired but may fire her work as many as six times.
Additionally, other media is sometimes incorporated in her pieces including wood fragments, wire, feathers, fiberglass and found and recycled objects.

Our family moved to Columbia in the summer of 2022, from Fayetteville, NC where I was a public school teacher for 28 years. As a science educator, I took advantage of travel opportunities and photographed wildlife and vistas to share with my students over the years in the classroom. A love of photography and birding blossomed during trips to the Amazon, the Galapagos, and Australia. During my last two years of teaching, I left the high school classroom and worked with academically and intellectually gifted elementary school students. That experience fostered an appreciation for creativity and artistic expression. So, when we decided to leave Fayetteville, I searched for a city with a strong art community, among other things. My pottery journey began in January 2023 when I took a beginner throwing class at the Columbia Art Center (CAS). Now that I'm a member of CAS and Midland Clay Art Society, my artistic skills have evolved. My current specialty is carving and painting pets, wildlife, and scenery on mugs, vases, and 3D spoon rests.

After spending the time in the High Rockies of Colorado, she and her husband have returned to their southeastern origins, where they reside with their two small children.

Frances Grosse Art
Painting
Making art has always been a part of my life. While attending Irmo schools, I enjoyed art classes with some wonderful, encouraging teachers. As a high school student, I was selected to attend the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts. I experimented with a variety of media and I am focused on painting in acrylics. I am trained in watercolor and oils and acrylics. Painting allows me to explore, interpret and share the beautiful world we live in. My motivation is the concept of wabi sabi, a Japanese aesthetic philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and simplicity. It involves a deep appreciation for the natural cycle of growth and decay, and the "beauty" of things that are modest, humble, and unconventional. My art is not photo realistic but painterly and I hope the viewers will appreciate the imperfections.

Jeff Driggers
Painting
A lifelong storyteller through theatre and film, Jeff Driggers discovered an
unexpected new creative voice during the 2020 pandemic lockdowns when he first picked up a paintbrush. What began as a quarantine experiment blossomed into an all-consuming love affair with oil painting. In just four years, Jeff's dedication to mastering this classical medium have allowed him exhibitions at the Trustus Theatre Art Gallery and Central Carolina Technical College's Gallery of Art and Expression.
Drawing on his background in visual storytelling, Jeff brings a distinctive narrative quality to his paintings, bridging his theatrical past with his
artistic present. He approaches each piece with the same enthusiasm that marked his first brush stroke, continuing to immerse himself in the techniques and traditions of oil painting while developing his unique artistic voice.

Other
I’ve been working with plants and flowers for over 4 years now, and what started as a hobby quickly grew (pun intended!) into a full-blown passion. I studied floral arrangement at MTC and have since created unique pieces for events, homes, and businesses—earning awards and a loyal client base along the way. As an openly gay horticulturist, I bring bold creativity, a love for color, and a flair for the unexpected to everything I do. Whether I’m designing for a challenging space, tricky lighting, or a tight budget, I love finding the perfect botanical solution. My style blends artistic instinct with technical skill, and I thrive when given the freedom to create something truly memorable.

Rebecca Horne
Mixed Media
For Rebecca, creating art is a calling, a spiritual experience. "I'm compelled to make art. It's something I must do," she shares. "It's a spiritual experience for me. I feel like I'm working to connect to something divine and express the experience on canvas." Embracing abstract mixed media art has enabled Rebecca unleash her imagination as she experiments with textures, colors, and forms. Each piece is a testament to her pursuit of beauty and uniqueness.
What sets Rebecca apart is her choice of medium and her distinctive process. She begins by layering different texture mediums, and incorporates objects while everything is still wet. This approach demands patience and precision, as each layer is carefully crafted to contribute to the depth and complexity of the piece.
As Rebecca continues to push the boundaries of her creativity, her art serves as a reminder of her connection with the divine. Through her work, she invites us to embark on a journey of exploration and self-discovery.
